Looming Healthcare Problems

There are currently a number of solutions on the market that somewhat address these issues. Computers-on-wheels (COW’s), laptops, and tablets have been used for a number of years. However, they all have their limitations.

• COW’s or computers mounted on rolling workstation carts, have limited battery lives, and any computer maintenance has to be done right on the cart, making it unavailable for use and expensive to maintain. Security issues remain with some data being stored locally on the COW.
• Laptops and tablets are similar, and because of their portability, are prone to be stolen or misplaced.
