As part of a yearly technology modernization and “smart classroom” initiative, the college sought to standardize and modernize the audio-visual technology utilized throughout their classrooms, lecture halls and science labs across all campuses. Requirements included ease of use and ADA compliance.

Emtec worked in conjunction with the client to develop a thorough set of classroom audio/visual technology standards that could be easily adjusted based on size of room and as specific technologies advance over time. Standardized solution components include:
- Premium projector and screen
- Efficient sound system
- Classroom control systems with keypads to control audio and presentation systems
- Custom designed, locally sourced lecterns/podiums
- Remote monitoring system to monitor projector lamp life and complete system status
For each classroom upgrade, Emtec provides services including a site survey, complete design adapted for specific room type/size, component procurement, implementation, user training and maintenance. Emtec passes along substantial cost savings to the client by obtaining specialized and reduced pricing from their strategic partner relationships.
As of fall 2020, over 120 classrooms, halls and labs have been completed. In addition to classroom upgrades, Emtec also designed a complete mobile audio system which can be easily transported to support offsite events and board meetings.
Results
The college’s leadership and IT team are extremely pleased with result. They are in a much better position to provide proper support for professor requirements and student instruction. Benefits they have seen thus far include:
