The Client: Hoosier Park- a race track in Anderson, Ind. embarked upon a $150 million project to transform itself into a “racino” by building an integrated casino facility.
Business Problem : They needed a partner who could design and integrate a backbone network to handle all casino operations, a slot network that would connect the facility’s 2,000 slot machines and electronic gaming tables, and a wireless network that would
allow customers to wager on horse races while inside the casino.
Solution : Warner and Emtec engineers were chiefly responsible for configuring and implementing the network infrastructure based on Dell servers and Cisco switches and routers. They configured the switches and routers to accommodate an Avaya Voice over IP solution, and implemented a series of virtual LANs (VLANs) to logically group users within the organization both geographically and departmentally to improve security and
Results : “Emtec was finished well before we needed it done,” said Ciscell. “And the great thing is that they have always been ‘Johnny on the spot’ when we’ve asked them for help with things that are beyond the scope of the contract. For instance, we decided we needed to make some changes to the existing network at the horse track, and they helped us change up some of the routing and upgrade the switches to get it all compliant.”
