Challenge

A NY based banking institution was experiencing rapid growth and looked to move their corporate headquarters to a newer, larger, more modern location.

What made their move so unique was that it happened right in the middle of the pandemic which created some very interesting circumstances. About 95% of their employees were working from home using their own PCs to access company resources through VDI. Meanwhile, all bank owned IT equipment remained onsite at unoccupied desks.

As their trusted partner for desktop support, Emtec was the clear choice to help with this major move – ensuring equipment was properly inventoried, relocated, and set up in the new location.

Solution

While the pandemic brought unforeseen stress to many organizations, the client was able to take advantage of their remote workforce not needing their equipment. Since the building was virtually empty, the client had the luxury of time.

Our Emtec team worked in conjunction with the client’s project manager and management team to coordinate the move. The Emtec team made a sweep of all 16 floors to power down and label over 750 user’s workstations and network equipment. The bank then had their moving company pack and move everything off-site to a staging facility for several months while the new building’s renovations were underway.

Once the renovations were finalized, the moving company delivered the equipment to the appropriate floors where the Emtec team helped coordinate and supervise equipment installation as well as cable management.

Results

Upon delivery of the equipment to their new headquarters, the Emtec team ensured all 750 workstations were setup, tested, and ready for their on-site workforce within a week. Emtec continues to provide ongoing end user support to their headquarters location as well as additional branches across the US. The client gained:
