Challenge

TransUnion’s legacy cloud HCM system was difficult to use, required complex integrations and didn’t offer the functionality that employees needed to do their jobs. Further, the legacy system vendor’s support services for the applications also weren’t meeting the company’s expectations.

TransUnion decided to migrate to Oracle HCM Cloud and Taleo, and wanted an implementation partner that could quickly bring up the various modules—including Core HR, Performance Management, Goal Management, Workforce Compensation, Recruiting and Transitions--in a coexistence model.

Solution

Emtec initiated the project by providing questionnaires and conducting requirements gathering sessions to leaders of TransUnion’s various departments to ensure their needs were captured in the new solution and respective redesigned business processes. The consulting firm used the results of such information gathering and its advanced proprietary integration toolsets to bring up the systems quickly and successfully.

Emtec also was adaptable and creative in finding solutions within the applications and processes to reflect changing business directions. For example, it optimized flex fields, translation, personalization and customized security within the applications. After the system was configured and data loaded, it also conducted prototyping sessions to enable end users to visualize the design and make any changes to support their requirements.

Results

Emtec was able to bring up the new systems within the directed five-month timeframe--and customize them in three languages--to enable TransUnion to offer them to its more than 4,000 employees in 33 countries. The system has empowered the company’s managers with more control within performance processes, which has enabled them to better concentrate on strategic initiatives.

Further, other customizations within the system have enabled TransUnion to streamline many of its business processes by reducing the number of performance templates it uses, eliminating duplicate data-entry requirements, creating core and profile data for all employees, and enabling single-sign on.
