The Client: John Bean Technologies Corporation (JBT) is a leading global technology solutions provider to high-value segments of the food processing and air transportation industries. They design, manufacture, test and service technologically sophisticated systems and products for their customers. They currently have approximately 3,500 employees with approximately 2,200 located in the United States.
Business Problem : At JBT, the Global Sourcing Team was faced with many reporting challenges. One such challenge was the availability of a self-service reporting system aligned with a centralized data warehouse. The data required for reporting was housed in eight separate instances of SyteLine and one instance of JD Edwards. The existing process of extracting and combining the data for use was not efficient and limiting. The time from data to decision was cumbersome and time consuming. Executives, leadership, and field employees relied on static reports rather than dynamic dashboards that required human intervention.
Solution : After looking at several possible solutions, JBT decided to go with an enterprise data warehouse (EDW) aligned with Oracle Business Intelligence Cloud Services (BICS) for their business intelligence platform.
Results : JBT now has a centralized backbone of data that includes item, vendor, and payables information allowing for customizable analysis. The system is designed with scalable architecture which will accommodate future growth at JBT.
