The Client: A global software management company that provides application usage management solutions (i.e. software installation and licensing, software delivery, etc.) throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
Business Problem : The company was upgrading its Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) platform from version R11 to R12 and implementing Oracle’s Hyperion Planning solution for budgeting and forecasting. During this process, they looked to also improve upon their business intelligence (BI) gathering and reporting capabilities as their quarterly reporting took 4-5 weeks to create almost 80 static reports for different user groups.
Solution : To pull all data sources together, Emtec recommended and implemented Oracle’s Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), as well as Oracle Business Intelligence Applications (OBIA). Emtec provided BI capabilities to pull in all data from multiple silos into a single reporting platform, and also validated processes by comparing data from the newly implemented Hyperion Planning and the upgraded EBS system.
Results : The company now has the capability to pull in data from multiple silos into a single reporting platform for BI and deliver relevant data to their users. With OBIA, they are now able to generate quarterly reports automatically in about 15 to 30 minutes vs. the 4-5 weeks previously.
